Whole-Body MRI Biobank Quantifies Incidental Brain Findings

Prenuvo has established a research network built on an imaging biobank of more than 200,000 standardized whole-body MRI scans, offering controlled access to de-identified datasets and AI-generated statistical summaries. Four initial studies examine pulmonary and mediastinal findings, incidental brain abnormalities across more than 78,000 screened individuals, structural changes associated with alcohol intake in adults without alcohol use disorder, and renal findings across 117,826 scans. The scale shifts whole-body imaging from individual screening toward population-level characterization of subclinical disease.

Key Points

  • Biobank holds over 200,000 standardized whole-body MRI scans
  • 7% of 78,000 screened showed clinically significant brain abnormalities
  • Alcohol intake below use-disorder threshold studied for structural change

Longevity Analysis

Asymptomatic structural change precedes diagnosis by years, and large standardized imaging cohorts make that silent interval measurable rather than inferred. The alcohol study is particularly consequential: it examines brain and whole-body changes in drinkers who fall below any clinical threshold, testing whether an exposure most people consider unremarkable leaves a detectable structural signature on neural tissue and the organs handling its clearance. Reference ranges derived from populations of this size also sharpen the interpretation of a single scan, distinguishing findings that warrant intervention from anatomical variation that does not.
