AI-Guided Multidomain Care Plans and Cognitive Stability in MCI

A retrospective analysis of 345 paired cognitive tests found that 83.5% of older adults using an AI-generated multidomain care plan improved, remained stable, or declined more slowly than expected over an average of 14.1 months. The cohort averaged 74.6 years, nine comorbidities, 11.7 medications and 23 clinically significant drug-drug interactions. Without a usual-care comparison group, the stabilization cannot be attributed to the intervention with confidence.

Key Points

  • 83.5% improved, stayed stable, or declined slowly over 14 months
  • Retrospective design, no control group, 345 paired cognitive tests
  • Cohort averaged 11.7 medications and 23 significant drug interactions

Longevity Analysis

Cognitive decline in older adults rarely has a single driver; medication burden, metabolic health, sleep, nutritional status and vascular risk each contribute, and each is modifiable before any drug is considered. Removing pharmacological interference and correcting metabolic and circulatory deficits addresses the conditions under which neural tissue maintains itself, rather than targeting a single pathological endpoint. The value of a decision support system here lies in surfacing contributors that a routine visit cannot reasonably sort through — though the absence of a comparison group leaves the magnitude of benefit undetermined.
