Establish trust.
Sales follow.
There are two ways people find a health brand. Both end at the same question: can I trust this? This is how you make the answer yes before you ever ask for the sale.
Every audience moves through four stages.
Every audience, every dollar, every piece of content moves a person through these four stages. Social proof is the moment of truth: it supports the sale or quietly kills it.
They find you, searching Google or YouTube, or getting served compelling content on Meta, TikTok, or X.
The moment of truth. Followers, reviews, testimonials. It supports you, or quietly kills the sale.
Keep showing up to the warm, engaged audience. The only retargeting health brands have left.
The close, then stay in touch after. The more they use it, the more they refer.
7 ways to develop trust
Social Proof isn't one thing. Each type builds trust from a different angle, and the most credible ones are the ones you couldn't simply write yourself.
| Type of proof | Why the buyer believes it |
|---|---|
| Founder proof | The founder's history and reasons, giving the buyer a credible basis to trust the product. |
| Expert proof | A named scientist or clinician backs you, lending their authority because the buyer trusts their judgment before yours. |
| Credential proof | Independent lab results, certifications, or a published trial, trusted because you didn't get to write them. |
| Press proof | Independent coverage or a journalist's quote, believed because you couldn't write it or buy it directly. |
| Customer proof | Reviews, ratings, and before-and-afters from real users, which lower a buyer's risk by showing people like them who got the result. |
| Crowd proof | A number of people who already chose it, read as evidence it's safe to choose. |
| Reaction proof | Public comments, shares, and saves that vouch for you, and the only audience Meta still lets you retarget. |
Spending before a single sale feels risky.
It's a safe bet. On Meta, health brands lost conversion-based retargeting. The pixel won't follow purchases for you. The only audience you're allowed to retarget is the one that engaged, watched the video, reacted, commented.
The “proof first” dollars aren't the gamble. Skipping them is.
average organic reach per post in 2025 — down from 16% back in 2012. Lowest of the three.
average organic reach in 2025, down 12% year over year. More recent data shows Instagram reach falling 30–40% across every post format.
a wide, inconsistent range by source. Company pages sit as low as 1.6%; personal profiles get roughly 70% more reach than the page itself.
Since January 2025, Meta restricts conversion tracking for any advertiser it classifies as Health & Wellness. In practice that means no retargeting built from website activity, no lookalike audiences built from health-related conversions, and optimization limited to awareness or traffic rather than leads or sales. Even with ad spend, Meta will not let a health brand retarget or optimize toward conversions the way search and LinkedIn do.
Cold ads ask strangers to trust you and buy in the same five seconds. This doesn't.
One ad, one impossible ask: notice us, believe us, and pull out a card, right now, with no relationship. The audience bounces and spend evaporates.
Earn the trust visibly, with social proof and ask for the sale after people have warmed up to you.
